Hello, hello!
Where have you been? Well, it’s a long story and not all that interesting either. But suffice to say, we’re back! And stronger than you can ever imagine. Or something like that. We have also been devising a cunning plan for each episode consisting of fun and dramatic features, and a chance for you to play along in our game ‘lost in translation’.
Mitch Miller, the guru, has his own segment, in which we challenge him to think fast on his film feet.
And we have a look at the ‘Japanese Disney’ Miyazaki in the first of a four part feature on his films.
Sorry it’s been so long, we missed you. And promise not to be so bad again.

Well- it’s the end of the Edinburgh festival 2009, and Robert and Emma have gone a bit crazy. Here they round up the fest with awards talk and give out a few prizes of their own. Which film will get the special ‘important overall life message’ award?! And what film had the ‘most watchable violence’?!
We also let you know the total failures of the festival, read out some listener comments (with some dire consequences) and try not to sneeze all over the microphone.
Contains unnecessary swearing.

As the festival winds down there are still some great films to be talked about- namely Birdwatcher; La terra degli uomini rossi, and er, Hump Day. And just how glum is British cinema these days? Find out in this penultimate fest podcast (which is just as well, as we’re sounding rather tired!)

In the 3rd Edinburgh festival podcast ‘controversy’ is King! Montage talk Antichrist, the much debated Lars Von Trier horror which split opinion at Cannes, and the debacle of Israeli film at the Edinburgh festival sparked by Ken Loach.
We don’t do this all by ourselves fortunately- Mitch Miller from the Drouth magazine, and Jamie Dunn from the Rusty Shrapnel website join in on the debates.
With talk of mutilation and some feminist use of the C word- this podcast is not for the fainthearted!

Film Fight! Robert and Emma fail to agree once more over one of the biggest films of the festival, the new sci fi “classic” Moon, starring Sam Rockwell. Then there’s the award winning Seraphine, and My Year without Sex, which continues Australian cinema’s strong run this festival. Plus some blether and outrageous French accents in between.

Two reviews this week; the scary and beautiful Coraline and weird, but maybe not wonderful Synecdoche, New York. Robert and Emma also talk some trailer trash, ask if 3D will really combat piracy, and question their existence in typical blethery but informative style.

Montage is back! We have a bumper edition of the podcast with the special theme of journalism. We discuss journalism in film, such as the recently released State of Play, and the crisis of print journalism in the real world due to the rise of blogs, and celebrity culture. And we start to get excited about the Edinburgh International Film Festival which has just announced its opening gala film.
We also have special guest Mitch Miller, editor of the Drouth magazine, and lecturer at the University of Glasgow to tell us like it is, and simultaneously destroy our hopes and dash our dreams.
Mitch tells us he’s a fan of the montage. He can’t deny it, we have it on tape.
